04 Mar Timber care
The Rusty Garden furniture is made with kiln dried Spotted Gum, Corten steel and stainless-steel fixings. The timber has had a minimum of 2 coats of oil.
We recommend that your furniture is oiled regularly to ensure a long life, without splintering or splitting for the timber. If constantly exposed to weather it will require regular upkeep and as required for items kept undercover. An easy way to tell if your furniture requires oiling is water. If water beads on the surface it is fine, if the water is absorbed it requires oiling. If your furniture has constant exposure to weather it will require more treatment than if it is kept under cover
We use and recommend Feast Watson Outdoor Furniture Oil in clear this is a product that is readily available in most hardware/paint shops and is UV stabilised. Your timber may require a light sand to bring it back to a smooth finish prior to oiling. If you do not regularly oil your timber it will weather to grey over time and may split or crack.
We also recommend checking / tightening of the fixings whilst you are doing maintenance to your timber. These should be checked when it first arrives home (they may move during travel).
Thank you for your purchase and enjoy many years of use out of your Rusty Garden furniture.
